College Counseling

We work with students in grades nine through twelve and their families throughout their college journeys. Our engagement with students includes self-reflection, research, essay writing, and application preparation. Our goal is to encourage students to find their own voices and strengths as they grow and learn throughout this process.

The college application process can feel daunting, and we’re here to help. We work with a wide range of students, from those who have inconsistent transcripts or have overcome great personal and academic obstacles to those with flawless grades and test scores. We have supported students from independent schools, parochial schools, and public schools, as well as transfer students.

Our services for students in grades 8-12 are as follows:

Grades 8 & 9: We work with students on profile development, which includes conversations around academic readiness and curricular choices, identifying areas of academic and extracurricular interest, understanding extracurricular activity opportunities, and summer planning.

Grade 10: We provide continued work on profile development, academic readiness, curricular choices, and summer planning. We begin discussions around deepening extracurricular involvement, self-reflection, the development of a standardized testing plan, and a general exploration of university preferences for possible campus visit planning.

Grade 11: We continue work on academic and curricular choices, extracurricular engagement, summer planning, and test strategy and preparation. We start conversations about teacher recommendations, the college counselor recommendation, and financial aid and scholarships (if applicable). We provide students with essay models and self-reflection exercises in preparation for college list building. Students engage in resume creation, college research activities, and essay brainstorming activities.

Grade 12: We engage in discussions around application strategies, essays, deadlines, university requirements, navigating application platforms, and understanding financial aid and scholarships options (if applicable). Students undertake essay brainstorming work followed by essay drafting, and we provide prompt feedback and suggestions around the editing process. We provide students with interview preparation (if necessary), application review, and assistance with discussions about final university choices.

We have worked with students from all around the globe and are familiar with application systems in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK, the US, and more.

Transfer Admissions Counseling

Thinking about transferring to a different college? We have worked extensively on supporting students in their searches for and applications to other undergraduate universities. We will engage with you to identify what you are looking for in a new school, help craft a list of schools that will be appropriate for your maturing skills and interests, and provide extensive guidance on the application process.

Graduate School Counseling

The College Plus Educational Consulting Team is excited to support students in their post-university paths, whatever they may be. We have experience with assisting both college seniors and college graduates with preparation for an applications to law school, graduate programs in social work, counseling, and education, and master’s degrees in the performing arts and creative writing.

We have worked in schools in Asia, Europe, and North America, and are excited to help school college counseling offices become stronger and more efffective.

School Consulting

We collaborate closely with high schools, offering our expertise to enhance existing or establish new and robust college counseling departments. Our services encompass a diverse array of areas aimed at fostering a comprehensive college preparation experience. This includes facilitating effective communication between students and families, devising impactful programming initiatives, refining curriculum development strategies, optimizing curriculum delivery methods, fine-tuning office structural organization, and providing valuable insights for board reporting processes.

Through our dedicated partnership, we empower high schools to provide exceptional college counseling that equips students with the tools and knowledge necessary for their academic journey beyond high school.
